Blossoms announce five-night Manchester residency ahead of new album ‘Gary’
The five-night residency from 17th-21st April will take place at Manchester’s O2 Ritz
Blossoms have announced a five-night residency in Manchester next April ahead of the release of their new album, ‘Gary’.
The run of gigs will take place at the city’s O2 Ritz venue from April 17-21, 2023.
The announcement comes as the Stockport band gear up to release their fifth album, ‘Gary’, on April 28.
The record is the follow-up to 2020’s ‘Foolish Loving Spaces’, and was recorded in Los Angeles with producer James Ford.
Speaking about the new album, Blossoms’ frontman Tom Ogden said: “’Gary’ is the record we were destined to make. It’s got the energy that we’ve always had live, but were never able to translate onto a record.”
“The whole thing started with the track ‘Ode To NYC’, which is a love song to Manchester and not about New York at all.”
“It’s the most personal song we’ve ever written, and it’s a window into the rest of the album. The lyrics are about loss and regret, but also about hope and renewal. It’s a celebration of Manchester. We’re really proud of it.”
The five-night residency at the O2 Ritz will be the band’s first live shows since they played a sold-out homecoming gig at Stockport County’s Edgeley Park Stadium in July.
Tickets for the residency go on sale at 9am on Friday, November 11.
