Bernal eyes one last cycling feat before calling it a career

Colombian cyclist Egan Bernal has revealed that he wants to complete a rare Giro-Tour double before calling time on his career.

The 26-year-old has already won the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia, making him one of only seven riders to have achieved the feat.

Only two riders have managed to win the Giro-Tour double in consecutive years, and Bernal is determined to join that exclusive club.

However, the Colombian is under no illusions about the difficulty of the task.

"It will be difficult, but I believe in myself," Bernal said. "I know it will be a big challenge, but I am willing to give it my all."

Bernal will face stiff competition from the likes of Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard, but he is confident that he can overcome the odds.

"I have a lot of experience now, and I know what it takes to win a Grand Tour," Bernal said. "I am confident that I can do it again."

If Bernal succeeds in his quest, he will become one of the most successful cyclists of his generation. He would also be the first Colombian to win the Giro-Tour double.

The 2024 Giro d'Italia will be held from May 11 to June 2, and the 2024 Tour de France will be held from June 29 to July 21.
