Ballard is not the first sportscaster to be fired for making an inappropriate comment during a live broadcast. In 2016, ESPN commentator Curt Schilling was suspended for making a controversial comment about transgender people. And in 2018, Fox News commentator Bill O'Reilly was fired after it was revealed that he had made inappropriate comments to several women.
