Bryan Woo To Make MLB Debut Thursday

Mariners Top Prospect To Start Against Oakland

Woo Has Impressed In Minors This Season

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Bryan Woo, one of the Mariners' top pitching prospects, will make his major-league debut Thursday against the Oakland Athletics. The 24-year-old right-hander has been dominant in the minors this season, posting a 2.50 ERA and 10.5 strikeouts per nine innings in 14 starts at Triple-A Tacoma.

Woo was a key part of the Mariners' return in the blockbuster trade that sent All-Star outfielder Mitch Haniger to the Houston Astros in March. The Mariners have been patient with Woo's development, and he has rewarded them with a strong performance in the minors.

Woo's fastball sits in the mid-90s and he has a sharp breaking ball. He also has good command of his changeup. The Mariners are hoping that Woo can be a key part of their rotation for years to come.

Woo will be opposed by Athletics right-hander Paul Blackburn on Thursday. Blackburn is 7-5 with a 3.72 ERA in 18 starts this season.
