The ghosts of Brexit, immigration, and recession have decided not to wake the prime minister. The three specters have been haunting the halls of 10 Downing Street for months, but they have decided that now is not the time to make their presence known.
“The prime minister is under a lot of pressure at the moment,” said the ghost of Brexit. “We don’t want to make things worse for him.”
“He’s also very tired,” added the ghost of immigration. “We don’t want to keep him up at night.”
“And he’s got a lot on his plate,” said the ghost of recession. “We don’t want to add to his burden.”
So, for the time being, the three ghosts have decided to lay low. They will continue to haunt the halls of 10 Downing Street, but they will not make their presence known to the prime minister.
“We’ll wait until he’s had a chance to rest,” said the ghost of Brexit. “Then we’ll make our move.”
